چکیده
s | 29 Abstract Background: Preliminary results have supported the use of D-cycloserine (DCS), a partial agonist at theN-methyl-D-aspartate receptor in the amygdala,to augment exposure therapy in adult anxiety disorders; however, no data have been provided a quantitative review of DCS-augmented cognitive behavioral therapy literature. Objectives: To investigate the effect of DCS enhances the overall efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) inthe treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Methods: Medline/Pubmed, OVID,and the Cochrane central register of controlled trialswere searched through to May 2015. Five of the 338 articles (n = 119 participants) initiallyidentified met the inclusion criteria, reporting 5 randomized controlled trials. Results: Compliance with homogeneity, effect of each literature can be combined using a fixed effect model (Chi2=2.97, i2=0%, p=0.56). The confidence interval of most studies crossesthe vertical line of null effect (mean difference equal to zero),indicating that the majority of these studies did not find astatistically significant difference between DCS+CBT and placebo+CBT. Conclusions: D-cycloserine has a neutral effect on enhancingcognitive-behavioral therapy in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder in randomized controlled trials. The present results fail to support the use of D-cycloserine with cognitive behavioral therapy for obsessive compulsive disorder. Background: Preliminary results have supported the use of D-cycloserine (DCS), a partial agonist at theN-methyl-D-aspartate receptor in the amygdala,to augment exposure therapy in adult anxiety disorders; however, no data have been provided a quantitative review of DCS-augmented cognitive behavioral therapy literature. Comparing the Effectiveness of Schema Therapy Augmented Exposure and Response Prevention With Exposure and Response Prevention and Pharmacotherapy in Obsessive-compulsive Disorder
Objectives: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is defined in the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5) as annoying and unpleasant thoughts or images (obsession) associated with repetitive and unwanted actions (compulsion). This study aims to compare emotional schema therapy augmented exposure and response prevention (ESTERP) with exposure and response preve...
متن کاملThe effect of cognitive rehabilitation on symptoms and pattern of brain waves in obsessive-compulsive patients
Abstract Background & Objective: Obsessive compulsive disorder is one of the most common psychiatric diseases characterized by repetitive thoughts and actions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation on obsessive-compulsive disorder and brain wave pattern in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Methodology: This study was a quasi-experime...
متن کاملAltered Brain Activation in Ventral Frontal-Striatal Regions Following a 16-week Pharmacotherapy in Unmedicated Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Recent studies have reported that cognitive inflexibility associated with impairments in a frontal-striatal circuit and parietal region is a core cognitive deficit of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). However, few studies have examined progressive changes in these regions following clinical improvement in obsessive-compulsive symptoms. To determine if treatment changes the aberrant activatio...
متن کاملPharmacotherapy of obsessive-compulsive disorder during pregnancy: a clinical approach.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a relatively common psychiatric disorder in the perinatal period. However, specific pharmacological treatment approaches for patients with OCD during pregnancy have not been satisfactorily discussed in the literature. In addition, there are no randomized controlled studies on the treatment of this disorder during pregnancy. The present paper discusses the ...
متن کاملProtein-Protein Interaction Analysis of Common Top Genes in Obsessive-Compulsive disorder (OCD) and Schizophrenia: Towards New Drug Approach
Comorbidty is common among psychiatric disorders including obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia with a high rate. Many studies suggested that the disorders may have same etiological bases. In this regard, shared pathways of glutamate, dopaminergic, and serotonin are the known ones. Here, the common significant genes are examined to understand the possible molecular origin of the diso...
